I just got back from picking up my new Triathlon bike at Inside Out Sports in Cary, NC.
I received a great end of the year close out price for a 2009 Cervelo P2 Carbon with 7900 Dura Ace. It's light and flexible and beautiful. I can't wait to fine tune it down and ride it all over the state. I bought some kevlar tires for it so I can train with heavier tires and not fear punctures so much on those long rides. Now I just need to get a hydration system that fits behind the saddle, preferably the new ISM Quick Draw system.
The fit is good, I need to get used to a more 90 degree lean, and maybe reverse out the arm rest pads or slam the saddle back more, but being used to the saddle already is a good thing since I brought my own Adamo saddle.

Sir Isaac
I wanted to get faster on my run, so I looked at the new Sir Isaac Newton's to change my technique a little bit. They are the second generation of Newton's that are a neutral running shoe that bridge the Original "Big Plugs" type with your old training running shoe. So I went to the great Ebay and found a pair for $56 plus shipping and snatched it up with AuctionSniper. Supposedly you're supposed to start out slowly, like just a mile or two to get used to the shoes, and your body has to adjust to the new form. Went for a 3 mile run last night with Millie the dog and they are a little different than my trainer, but definitely a little more forefoot striking than my old standby, the Asica Kayano. Today I'm feeling strange soreness in random places...so weird. We'll see if these things make me faster or are just a gimmick. More miles in them to come.

I've put some thought into what new items I need for training and racing in an Ironman Distance event. My current aluminum framed Quintana Roo Kilo is a great bike, but it's 1) a bit heavy and 2) you feel every bump in the road with it. I need to sell it on Ebay or locally and get a new bike.
After much research, I think I'm getting a Cervelo P2C due to its popularity and reliability. At the last Kona World Championships, a huge majority of racers had a Cervelo bike there and people just rave about it. My only dilemma is whether to get a 2009 model with Dura Ace and a slightly bad paint job, or the new 2010 model with a sexy paint job and Ultegra components, which are just as good, but heavier and less durable etc than Dura Ace bike components.
I'm also thinking about trying out the Newton running shoes for a change in speed.
I also need some more cold weather running gear as I really don't have that much.
Lots of expenses, lots to do.

Old friends will be racing with me
So I also have my friends Ashley W. and Christian L. racing with me in Louisville, so that'll be nice. They live in Miami, but we all knew each other through hashing and the DCTri club in DC.

I pulled the trigger finally!
Well, after many hours of personal debate on whether to do it or not I made the big decision to sign up today. It's 10 months away, but I have a lot of training and preparation ahead of me. More on what I need to do/ get in future posts.
